Class Action is a graphic design collective that creates visual messages to advocate social change. The group’s goal is to influence the way public issues are understood and to motivate audiences to participate in civic dialogue. The designers of Class Action initiated, wrote, designed and published these projects collaboratively. The Union of Concerned Scientists puts rigorous, independent science to work to solve our planet’s most pressing problems. Joining with people across the country, we combine technical analysis and effective advocacy to create innovative, practical solutions for a healthy, safe, and sustainable future.
Class Action and Union of Concerned Scientists will host three billboards on Interstate 95, one of the most highly trafficked thoroughfares in the country.
Class Action joins the Union of Concerned Scientists and its 500,000 supporters in confronting the presidential administration’s efforts to sideline science. The three billboards are positioned on Interstate 95, one of the most highly trafficked thoroughfares in the country, throughout September 2018. Funded by UCS, this public art project breaks down ideological divisions and asserts that spiritual and rational thinking can co-exist in a democratic society. This billboard series uses vernacular language and a patriotic color palette to remind American citizens that the mid-term elections are critical regarding upcoming decisions on science-based policies.
