Care Not Cages Artist Relief Fund Winner
Meet the Creators
I am a ceremonial artist that uses the intention of healing myself and others to stand at the center of my creations. Whether that is through writing, sound, visuals, movement, or storytelling I have found a combination of them all is what has opened me to the world of sharing ceremony in an artistic and creative way. I have had the opportunity to guide many ceremonies these past 3 years. I have been able to learn from guides and elders around me that have helped me remember my intent. This year I feel two parts of my life came together in a powerful way. My artistic self and my spiritual self. They were separated by systems that only use artistic platforms for money and require you to fit into particular boxes or brands. I was able to co-create community and found myself performing in ceremony and ritual much more frequently. It is my intention to find more environments like these that support the meeting of these two selves and allow them to be seen with open vulnerability and shared. Jordi is an Afrofuturistic, queer, intuitive healer who lives in Los Angeles. These past years have guided them through many opportunities to learn and share; childcare, camp counseling, museum education, performance art, food justice, medicine justice, cannabis research, creative content development, healing justice, spiritual gathering, and energetic healing. Through many creative mediums Jordan centers centers healing energy at the core. Healing themselves and others is the intention for the projects they have recently created. Sound/Music, Fashion, Film, Watercolor, and Movement/Dance have been heavily used by them this creative cycle.
