To make real change and progress, we must truly understand our collective histories — histories that are often not easy to face. Without knowing these histories, progress is impossible. We have a shared responsibility to seek out these many-layered histories in order to better effect real, meaningful, equitable change, and I believe public art, as a medium, can provide a powerful spark for important conversations.
