For Freedoms is excited to be a part of the fifth anniversary of New Wave Art Wknd, taking place December 1-3, 2023 across Palm Beach and West Palm Beach. This year's programming theme is "The Freedom of Expression."
Friday, December 1
3-5PM at The Square West Palm
New Wave Artist-in-Residence Emanuel Hahn Open Studio Event Emanuel Hahn, who is a Freedoms x Google Image Equity Fund Fellow has been in residence with New Wave for the last few weeks. During this special open studio event, Hahn will showcase work from his America Fever series, which he began as a part of his For Freedoms Fellowship. No RSVP required.
4-5PM Public Panel Discussion at The Square West Palm
Challenged: Art and The Freedom of Expression featuring For Freedoms artists Russell Craig and Nekisha Durrett. Educator and Founder of Rohi's Readery, Pranoo Kumar Skomra will also participate on the panel moderated by former Director of the Brooklyn Museum of Art Arnold Lehman. 5-6:15PM Procession from The Square West Palm to Heart & Soul Park and Commemoration Following the panel discussion, the Palm Beach Lakes High School marching band of more than 100 students will lead attendees on the 1.3-mile route to the Heart & Soul Park where commemoration celebration of Nekisha Durrett’s public art commission, Genius Loci, will take place. 11AM-12PM Public Panel Discussion at UOVO West Palm Beach | 4200 Westgate Ave
What is Creative Expression Now? Exploring the Role of Art in Today’s Society will be moderated by For Freedoms Co-Founder Michelle Woo. Panelists will include Rachel Lee Hovnanian and Kathryn Andrews, for Freedoms family members artist Wendy Red Star and Founder and Co-Director of Project Empty Space, Jasmine Wahi.
