The Birmingham Museum of Art activation will have multiple components, including an exhibition, For Freedoms: Civil Rights and Human Rights, which looks at the four freedoms and the present political climate through the lens of the civil rights era. This will run from Sept. 8 to Nov. 18, 2018, and the exhibition will be accompanied by a yard sign activation and a town hall. When visiting the exhibition, visitors will be invited to register to vote as well as receive the BMA-produced, non-partisan voter registration and voter information card and respond to the exhibition in the space. To draw additional attention to this exhibition and to promote partnerships between the BMA and its surrounding communities, a lawn sign activation will take place at the Museum from Oct. 4 - 11. For Freedoms lawn signs will be filled in during events at the Museum, including our Latinx Heritage Festival, as well as at Southern Poverty Law Center voter restoration events taking place at the Museum and throughout the area. The activation will lead up to a community-focused town hall at the Museum, taking place on Thursday, Oct. 11.
